Edge Update Breaks Right-Click Paste in Microsoft Teams Desktop Chats

Starting April 14, 2026, Microsoft Teams desktop users reported that right-click paste stopped working in chat messages. Per BleepingComputer, the paste option appears greyed out in the right-click context menu when pasting URLs, text, or images. Keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+V on Windows, Cmd+V on macOS) continue to work normally.

Per Microsoft's service health notification on April 16, the root cause is a code regression in a recent Microsoft Edge update. Teams uses the Edge WebView2 runtime for rendering, making it vulnerable to regressions in the underlying browser engine. Per Windows Forum, this highlights how Edge WebView2 has become a shared failure domain for Teams, Outlook add-ins, and other Microsoft desktop apps.
