Google Photos Adds Classic Search Toggle
Google rolled out a new option in Photos on March 10 that lets users disable the AI-powered Ask Photos search feature. The toggle allows users to revert to the traditional search interface that existed before Ask Photos launched.
The change comes after widespread user complaints about the AI search experience. TechCrunch reports that Google received significant negative feedback about Ask Photos' accuracy and speed compared to the classic search.
All Google Photos Users Get Choice
The new toggle affects all Google Photos users across Android, iOS, and web platforms. Users who prefer the original search experience can now disable Ask Photos entirely through the app settings.
Google hasn't removed Ask Photos completely. Users who want to keep the AI-powered search can continue using it as the default option.
How to Switch Back to Classic Search
Users can find the new toggle in Google Photos settings under the search preferences section. Ars Technica confirms the setting is rolling out globally and should appear for all users within 48 hours.
The classic search returns the original keyword-based interface that many users found faster and more reliable for finding specific photos and videos.
